The economic cost of environmental damage in Mexico was 6.3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during 2012, according to the most recent calculations released by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
During the production process, environmental costs are generated derived from two events: one, the depletion of natural resources; and two, environmental degradation. In 2012, these costs reached 985 thousand 64 million pesos.
This amount, explains Inegi, reflects the expenses that society would have to incur to prevent or remedy the decrease and loss of natural resources, as well as the deterioration of the environment.
The costs for depletion of natural resources in 2012 amounted to 261 thousand 620 million pesos, 1.7% of the GDP and 27% of the total cost, while the costs for deterioration of the environment amounted to 723 thousand 444 million pesos, 4.6% of the GDP and 73% of the total.

The depletion of natural resources includes the Europe Cell Phone Number Listdecrease of three basic assets: forestry; hydrocarbons and groundwater. Degradation considers emissions on three assets: air, soil and water.
Atmospheric pollution represented the highest environmental cost in 2012, reaching 532 thousand 679 million pesos. This was followed by costs for hydrocarbon depletion (217,968 million pesos), soil degradation (74,564 million pesos), water pollution (64,632 million pesos), solid waste (51,569 million pesos), and groundwater depletion (29,000 million pesos). 478 million pesos), and finally the depletion of forest resources 14 thousand 174 million pesos.
According to Inegi, the transportation, postal and storage sector generated the highest environmental costs in 2012, reaching 316 thousand 858.5 million pesos, while mining reached 219 thousand 138.2 million pesos; agriculture, animal husbandry and exploitation, forestry use and other serWe have gone from explorations of 400 meters to two thousand meters, which generates regional subsidence,” warns Moctezuma, who believes that drilling wells puts the sustainability of the Valley of Mexico at risk. What I like about this place is that they only have one material, one color and that's it. What you see is, well, all these windows and the dog's leg. That kind of beauty is intriguing, since every time you see it again you can notice a new detail. It is a great diagram, it is simple, easy to understand, what I also like about it is that it is a small project from which you can learn a lot, commented Nille Juul-Sorensen, director he façade, approximately eight meters high, is covered with windows obtained from several abandoned houses; Its function is to let all possible light into the establishment.
